OPINION
Three years since October 7
Editorial by N3R1-70
On 7 October 2023, armed groups led by Hamas attacked Israel. They killed about 1,200 people: civilians in their homes, in the kibbutzim and in the towns of the south, young people at a festival where they were dancing, soldiers and police officers. Whole families were wiped out. They took 251 people to Gaza as hostages (The Times of Israel).
A United Nations mission found reasonable grounds to believe that rape, including gang rape, took place that day in at least three locations, and clear and convincing information of sexual violence against hostages (UN, Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict).
Today I remember them, and everyone who has lived with an empty chair at the table since that day.
Editorial note: this site applies the same yardstick to all parties. The crimes of 7 October are in the preamble of the manifesto on Israel, which also documents what happened afterwards in Gaza.
